PRIVACY POLICY

LAST UPDATED 25 OCTOBER 2026
THE SHORT VERSION
  • We collect what we need to run a wheel marketplace safely, and nothing for advertising.
  • We never sell your data, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
  • A few trusted companies process data for us (hosting, email, text messages), only to provide our service.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time by emailing [email protected].

01Who we are

lipd.co.uk is run by Petru Marin, trading as Lipd (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it's used and are responsible for looking after it under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Email: [email protected].

02What we collect and why

Lipd is opening in stages. Right now only the waitlist is open. When the full site opens, the account and marketplace sections below will apply too. Under UK GDPR we need a lawful reason (a “lawful basis”) for each use, which we list alongside.

The waitlist (open now)

WhatWhy we use itLawful basis
Your email addressTo send you one email when the first auctions go live.Consent
The car you drive, if you tell usTo understand which cars our first members drive, so we can prioritise relevant fitment content.Consent
The date you joinedTo keep a record of your consent.Legal obligation

You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us, and we'll remove you from the list.

Your account (when the site opens)

WhatWhy we use itLawful basis
Username, email address and passwordTo create and secure your account. Passwords are stored scrambled (hashed) and we can never see them.Contract
UK mobile numberTo verify you by text message before you bid or sell. Verified accounts keep scammers and shill bidders out of auctions.Legitimate interests (preventing fraud)
The car you drive, if you tell usTo show you fitments and listings that suit your car first.Consent
If you sign in with Google or Apple: your name and email from that accountTo create your account without a separate password.Contract

Using the marketplace (when the site opens)

Fitment posts: car details, photos and setupTo publish your post in the fitment gallery under your username.Contract
Reports you make, and reports about youTo moderate the community and keep it safe.Legitimate interests (safety)

When payments open, we'll also process payment and payout details through a payment provider. We'll update this policy before that happens.

Security and running the site

WhatWhy we use itLawful basis
IP address, browser type and sign-in timesTo keep you signed in, spot suspicious sign-ins, limit repeated attempts and protect the site from attacks.Legitimate interests (security)
Records of moderation decisions (such as suspensions)To enforce our rules consistently and handle appeals.Legitimate interests (safety)

We don't use your data for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you, and we don't build advertising profiles.

03Who we share it with

08Keeping it safe

All traffic to lipd.co.uk is encrypted. Passwords are hashed, staff accounts must use two-factor authentication, staff only get the access their role needs, and every staff action is logged. 10Changes to this policy

We'll update this page as Lipd grows, for example when payments open. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, we'll tell you by email or on the site.
